Rail Traffic for the Week Ending June 19, 2021
The Association of American Railroads (AAR) today reported U.S. rail traffic for the week ending June 19, 2021. For this week, total U.S. weekly rail traffic was 514,112 carloads and intermodal units, up 12.5 percent compared with the same week last year.

NJ Transit Adds Train Tracking Map To App
With its new Map My Ride feature, NJ TRANSIT is launching additional new capabilities in its mobile app that allow customers to track locations of their buses and trains. With a simple tap on their mobile device, customers can see the location of the next bus or train along with the estimated arrival time to their location.

Amtrak and MassDOT Announce Resumption of Second Valley Flyer Roundtrip
Amtrak, in conjunction with MassDOT, is re-launching the second round trip of the Valley Flyer on July 26, 2021, a state supported seven day a week passenger train. The train service was reduced on March 30, 2020 during the COVID-19 pandemic as members of the public were quarantining and traveling less frequently.

MARC Train, Commuter Bus to Resume Full Service August 30
As the COVID-19 recovery continues across Maryland and onsite workplaces reopen, the Maryland Department of Transportation Maryland Transit Administration (MDOT MTA) will resume full scheduled service on MARC Train and Commuter Bus effective Monday, August 30.

U.S. Department of Transportation Announces Nuria Fernandez as 15th Senate-Confirmed Administrator of the Federal Transit Administration
The U.S. Department of Transportation announced Nuria Fernandez has been confirmed by the U.S. Senate as the 15th Administrator of the Federal Transit Administration (FTA). Fernandez is also the first Senate-confirmed woman of color to lead FTA, and the first confirmed Administrator in over a decade. She was confirmed by the U.S. Senate on June 10, 2021.

Texas Central Signs Contract with Webuild to Serve as Design-build Lead for Historic Project
Texas Central, developers of the high-speed train between Dallas and Houston, has signed a $16 billion contract with Webuild, operating in the U.S. market with The Lane Construction Corporation, a global leader in engineering and construction to lead the civil construction team that will build the Texas passenger line. Webuild is one of the largest civil engineering contractors in the world. This selection by Texas Central reflects the participation of industry leading organizations that are designing and building the high-speed train.
