Washington Metrorail Extends Service
Metro will expand train service to midnight, seven days a week starting Sunday, July 18. The extended operating hours are the first in a package of service improvements passed by Metro’s Board of Directors in June that will add more all-day rail service, create high-frequency bus routes and improve service across the region.

The Government of Canada is committed to modernizing intercity passenger rail services in a way that will best meet the transportation needs of travellers, while also creating jobs and economic growth. The Minister of Transport, the Honourable Omar Alghabra, the Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Families, Children and Social Development (Housing) and Member of Parliament for Spadina–Fort York, Adam Vaughan, and the Mayor of the City of Toronto, John Tory announced the Government of Canada is taking the first steps in preparing for the procurement process to build a new train service in the Toronto to Quebec City Corridor.

SEPTA Station Cleaning Blitz Continues This Weekend
Following several successful station cleaning blitzes in recent months, SEPTA will continue the initiative this weekend (July 16, 17, 18) at the Lombard-South Station on the Broad Street Line. Lombard-South Station will close at 8 p.m. on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, and reopen everyday at 5 a.m.

Rail Traffic for the Week Ending July 10, 2021
The Association of American Railroads (AAR) today reported U.S. rail traffic for the week ending July 10, 2021. For this week, total U.S. weekly rail traffic was 451,825 carloads and intermodal units, up 0.6 percent compared with the same week last year.

SEPTA Trolley Tunnel to Close for 2021 Trolley Tunnel Blitz, July 9-26
SEPTA crews will work around-the-clock for 17 days, tackling critical track and power maintenance, station upgrades, and intensive cleaning as part of the 2021 Trolley Tunnel Blitz. SEPTA Trolley Routes 10, 11, 13, 34, and 36 will not operate in the Center City tunnel from 10 p.m. on Friday, July 9 through 5 a.m. on Monday, July 26.
