Brightline to Rehabilitate the St. Luce River Railroad Bridge:
Brightline, the only provider of modern, eco-friendly, intercity rail in America, will complete one of the final pieces of its Orlando expansion project with the rehabilitation of the railroad bridge over the St. Lucie River in Stuart, Florida. The United States Coast Guard approved Brightline’s request to temporarily close the navigation channel at the drawbridge so the company can complete scheduled rehabilitation work.

Over the weekend, Norfolk Southern launched NSMakingitRight.com as a resource for members of the East Palestine community and public at-large. The website includes regular updates on environmental clean up progress, services available at the Family Assistance Center (FAC), and answers to common questions and concerns.

Reading & Northern Introducing Wilkes Barre-Scranton Regional Railroad Station at Pittston
Reading & Northern Railroad (RBMN), Pennsylvania’s largest privately owned railroad, will begin operating regular weekend passenger excursion train service from the brand-new Wilkes Barre-Scranton Regional Railroad Station at Pittston, PA to Jim Thorpe, PA on Saturday, May 27, 2023. Tickets will go on sale at 9:00am on Wednesday, March 1, 2023

Weekly Rail Traffic for the Week Ending February 11, 2023
The Association of American Railroads (AAR) reported U.S. rail traffic for the week ending February 11, 2023. For this week, total U.S. weekly rail traffic was 473,972 carloads and intermodal units, down 6.2 percent compared with the same week last year.

NTSB Continues Investigation of Ohio Train Derailment
The NTSB investigation of the Feb. 3 Norfolk Southern freight train derailment in East Palestine, Ohio is ongoing. NTSB is conducting a safety investigation to determine the probable cause of the derailment and issue any safety recommendations, if necessary, to prevent future derailments.

Update on Norfolk Southern Assistance to the East Palestine, OH Community
Norfolk Southern Corporation provided an update on its assistance efforts to the community of East Palestine, Ohio. These include direct support for residents through Norfolk Southern’s Family Assistance Center, equipment for first responders, and continued environmental testing and monitoring, which is being done in coordination with the Ohio and U.S. Environmental Protection Agencies (EPA), and other environmental agencies.
