MTA Announces Overnight Closure of Subway for Deep Cleaning, Launches “Essential Connector” for Heroic Frontline Workers During Ongoing Covid-19 Pandemic
The Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) today announced the closure of the subway system overnight from 1 – 5 a.m. for daily deep cleaning and a new “Essential Connector” service to continue moving the heroes on the frontlines of the COVID-19 pandemic beginning Wednesday, May 6.

Empire State Building Will Shine Blue to Honor MTA Workforce Tonight
The heroic workforce of the Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) will be honored Wednesday night by the Empire State Building, which will be illuminated in the official blue of the MTA. The lights will turn blue starting at 7:51 p.m.

Norfolk Southern Corporation today reported first-quarter financial results of net income equal to $381 million, diluted earnings per share of $1.47, and an operating ratio of 78.4%.

Metro-North Railroad to Begin Demolition and Reconstruction of Third Avenue Bridge in Mount Vernon
MTA Metro-North Railroad today announced that it will close the Third Avenue Bridge in Mount Vernon to pedestrians starting on Wednesday, April 29. The closure will allow demolition to start in order to replace the nearly 120-year-old bridge.

Amtrak schedules modified in Wisconsin, Illinois, Michigan and Missouri

SEPTA and Lightsource BP Sign Contract for 43.8 Megawatts of Solar
The Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority (SEPTA), among the largest transit agencies in the United States serving the Greater Philadelphia region, and Lightsource BP, a global leader in the development, financing and management of utility-scale solar energy projects, have signed a long-term power contract for two solar farms totaling 43.8 MWdc in Franklin County, Pennsylvania.

CSX Announces Second Quarter Results
CSX Corp. announced first quarter 2020 net earnings of $770 million, or $1.00 per share, versus $834 million, or $1.02 per share in the same period last year. CSX’s operating ratio set a Class I railroad first quarter record of 58.7 percent, improved from 59.5 percent in the prior year.
