STB Accepts CSX’s Revised Merger Application

The  Surface Transportation Board  is accepting for consideration the revised application filed on July 1, 2021, by CSX Corporation for its proposed merger with Pan Am Systems and affiliated railroads.  The filing includes the Pittsburg & Shawmut Railroad replacing Springfield Terminal as the operator of the Pan Am Southern, the discontinuation of SMS Rail Lines operation of the Voorheesville Running, and Norfolk Southern’s expanded trackage rights. The STB expected to make a final decision on the merger during April 2022, with operations possibly commencing one month later.
