Reading & Northern continues to pull out all the stops with newly restored T-1 steam locomotive 2102, as the big Northern was called upon once again to move revenue freight on Friday August 19, 2022. The 4-8-4 powered a loaded coal train from Tamaqua to North Reading, Pa. Crystal blue skies, sunshine and warm weather brought out many photographers for the event, with 2102 performing flawlessly There was much local traffic on the roads, and some crazy driving by a few out-of-state plated vehicles, but there were many good photo opportunities to be had.

R&N then operated its fourth Iron Horse Ramble from North Reading to Jim Thorpe and return on the Saturday of Labor Day Weekend, September 3, 2022. It was another sold-out, 19-car consist which featured open window coaches, full-length Super Domes and first-class parlor and lounge car accommodations.

Many thanks to Andy Muller and the Reading & Northern Steam Team for keeping the 2102 in prime condition and for sharing their passion with the public.
