Amtrak plans to resume passenger service between New Orleans, Louisiana and Mobile, Alabama in early 2022.  En route, the trains will stop at Bay St. Louis, Gulfport, Biloxi and Pascagoula.  The Southern Rail Commission has been lobbying for the resumption of the service. It has been successful in securing Federal and local funding for infrastructure improvements. Passenger trains have not operated on this route for the past 16 years.
