Rail Traffic for the Week Ending September 24, 2022
The Association of American Railroads (AAR) reported U.S. rail traffic for the week ending September 24, 2022. For this week, total U.S. weekly rail traffic was 489,111 carloads and intermodal units, down 4.4 percent compared with the same week last year. Total carloads for the week ending September 24 were 231,258 carloads, down 3.2 percent compared with the same week in 2021, while U.S. weekly intermodal volume was 257,853 containers and trailers, down 5.4 percent compared to 2021.

Patriot Rail to Acquire Delta Southern Railroad
Patriot Rail Company LLC today announced it has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire Delta Southern Railroad, Inc. (DSRR), a short line railroad company operating two line segments in Louisiana. The financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

New York Governor Hochul Announces Work to Redesign Penn Station Anticipated to Begin in the Coming Months
New York Governor Kathy Hochul today announced the Metropolitan Transportation Authority, in partnership with NJ TRANSIT and Amtrak, approved a contract for the redesign of Penn Station to a joint venture led by FXCollaborative Architects LLP and WSP USA Inc., with the acclaimed British architect John McAslan + Partners as collaborating architect.

The Association of American Railroads (AAR) reported U.S. rail traffic for the week ending September 17, 2022. For this week, total U.S. weekly rail traffic was 490,654 carloads and intermodal units, down 2.9 percent compared with the same week last year. Total carloads for the week ending September 17 were 239,528 carloads, up 2 percent compared with the same week in 2021, while U.S. weekly intermodal volume was 251,126 containers and trailers, down 7.3 percent compared to 2021.
