MTA Arts & Design Announces Contemporary Artists Commissioned to Create Artworks for MTA’s New Grand Central Madison Terminal
MTA Arts & Design announced the commissioning of two highly acclaimed artists selected to create permanent artwork for the greatly anticipated Grand Central Madison, a new 700,000-square-foot Long Island Rail Road (LIRR) terminal below Grand Central Terminal, along Madison Avenue between 43 and 48 Streets in Manhattan.

CP Holiday Train Returns To The Rails After Two-Year Hiatus
The Canadian Pacific (CP) Holiday Train will return to the rails this season on its first cross-continent tour in three years, following virtual concerts in the pandemic years of 2020 and 2021. The train will again raise money, food and awareness for local food banks in communities along the CP network.

Rail Traffic for the Week Ending October 8, 2022
The Association of American Railroads (AAR) reported U.S. rail traffic for the week ending October 8, 2022. For this week, total U.S. weekly rail traffic was 494,413 carloads and intermodal units, down 2.4 percent compared with the same week last year. Total carloads for the week ending October 8 were 232,930 carloads, down 2.8 percent compared with the same week in 2021, while U.S. weekly intermodal volume was 261,483 containers and trailers, down 2 percent compared to 2021.

CN and IBEW Arbitration Concludes with New Collective Agreement
Today, CN announced the conclusion of the arbitration process with the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW). The three-year collective agreement is retroactive to January 01, 2022, and runs through December 31, 2024. The agreement includes a 3 percent wage increase for each of 2022, 2023 and 2024.

SEPTA Celebrates Renaming of Richard Allen Lane Station
On October 6, SEPTA gathered with elected officials and community leaders to celebrate the renaming of Richard Allen Lane Station on the Chestnut Hill West Line. New historical panels honoring Allen were also unveiled, and are now on permanent display at the station.

Metro-North Railroad Announces Return of “Leaf Peeper” Trains, Increased Weekend Service in Upcoming Schedule Update
Metro-North Railroad announced the return of additional train service on the Hudson Line for customers to enjoy fall foliage and outdoor activities in the Hudson Valley. Effective Saturday, Oct. 8, five extra “Leaf Peeper” trains will operate on Saturdays and four extra trains on Sundays to take New York City metro area riders to the incomparably scenic Hudson River Valley.
