The Association of American Railroads (AAR) today reported U.S. rail traffic for the week ending July 26, 2025. For this week, total U.S. weekly rail traffic was 514,279 carloads and intermodal units, up 1.1 percent compared with the same week last year.

Norfolk Southern Reports Second Quarter 2025 Results
Norfolk Southern Corporation announced Tuesday its second quarter 2025 financial results. For the quarter, revenue was $3.1 billion, income from railway operations was $1.2 billion, operating ratio was 62.2%, and diluted earnings per share were $3.41. Recoveries related to the Eastern Ohio incident exceeded incremental costs in the quarter.

CSX Corp. Announces Second Quarter 2025 Results
CSX Corp. announced second quarter 2025 operating income of $1.28 billion compared to $1.45 billion in the prior year period. Net income was $829 million, or $0.44 per diluted share, compared to $963 million, or $0.49 per diluted share, in the same period last year. Total volume of 1.58 million units for the quarter was flat compared to second quarter 2024 and up 4% sequentially.
