Amtrak and Stephen Starr Take Acela First Class Dining to the Next Level with New Seasonal Menu Featuring The Dandelion, El Vez and Pizzeria Stella
Amtrak and STARR Restaurant Group, led by James Beard award-winning restaurateur Stephen Starr, have introduced a new seasonal menu, now available on Acela First Class for customers traveling between Boston, New York, Philadelphia and Washington D.C., on the Northeast Corridor. This is the fourth seasonal Acela First Class menu featuring offerings from Stephen Starr restaurants since the program began in May 2023. To continue bringing all new variety onboard, this menu includes the first dish offered from The Dandelion restaurant in Philadelphia.

AAR Reports Weekly Rail Traffic for the Week Ending November 30, 2024
The Association of American Railroads (AAR) reported U.S. rail traffic for the week ending November 30, 2024. For this week, total U.S. weekly rail traffic was 439,362 carloads and intermodal units, down 13.8 percent compared with the same week last year.

CSX Unveils Pan Am Heritage Locomotive, Marking Completion of Heritage Series
CSX has unveiled locomotive No. 1981, the final installment in its series of heritage locomotives, honoring Pan Am Railways. The unit is the 21st and final creation by the Waycross Paint Shop to celebrate the predecessor railroads that form today’s CSX network.

First of Three Arches for Portal North Bridge Delivered by Barge
Following a 30-hour journey down the Hudson River, the first of three massive arches to support the new Portal North Bridge arrived at the construction site, bringing the project a giant leap closer to completion. The new bridge will replace the current 114-year-old swing bridge, which opens for maritime traffic and often has mechanical issues, resulting in service delays. The new bridge is a fixed span that eliminates the need to open and close, improving the experiences of thousands of daily commuters along the busiest stretch of passenger rail in the country.

Amtrak has appointed Jennifer Mitchell as Executive Vice President of Strategy and Planning, where she will be responsible for setting the long-term strategic vision for Amtrak and managing the Planning, Infrastructure Access, State Partner, Network Development, and Host Railroad functions.

SEPTA Postpones Large Fare Increase Following Gov. Shapiro Funding Announcement
Pennsylvania Governor Shapiro announced stop-gap funding that will help SEPTA fill its operating budget deficit for this year, Fiscal Year 2025. This will enable SEPTA to postpone a major 21.5% fare increase that was proposed to start January 1, 2025. Public hearings for the proposal, scheduled for Dec. 13, have been cancelled.

Metro-North Railroad Holiday Train Ready to Light Up the Rails
MTA Metro-North Railroad has announced that their first ever Holiday Lights Train will light up the rails on all three lines starting Friday, Nov. 29, and operating through New Year’s.
