Norfolk Southern Reports Third Quarter 2025 Results
Norfolk Southern Corporation announced Thursday its third quarter 2025 financial results. For the quarter, revenue was $3.1 billion, income from railway operations was $1.1 billion, operating ratio was 64.6%, and diluted earnings per share were $3.16.

MBTA Board of Directors Approves $850 Million in Funding from Healey-Driscoll Administration to Enhance Safety, Reliability
The MBTA Board of Directors approved the receipt of $850 million in Commonwealth Transportation Fund (CTF)-funded bond capacity to the MBTA from a crucial Interdepartmental Service Agreement (ISA) with MassDOT. The MassDOT Board of Directors approved of the ISA last week. This funding was proposed by Massachusetts Governor Maura Healey and passed by the Legislature.

AAR Reports Weekly Rail Traffic for the Week Ending October 18, 2025
The Association of American Railroads (AAR) reported U.S. rail traffic for the week ending October 18, 2025. For this week, total U.S. weekly rail traffic was 497,854 carloads and intermodal units, down 2.6 percent compared with the same week last year.

New York Governor Hochul Restores Service and Announces Further Improvements to Rail Service Between Albany and New York City
Governor Kathy Hochul, Metro-North Railroad President Justin Vonashek and Amtrak President Roger Harris announced that New York State has secured a series of improvements to rail service on the Empire Service Corridor between Albany and New York City. Supported by New York State via the Department of Transportation, the Empire Service is an economic engine up and down the Hudson River, carrying two million riders annually and achieving record-high ridership in 2024.

CSX Corp. Announces Third Quarter 2025 Results
CSX Corp. announced third quarter operating income of $1.09 billion and net earnings of $694 million, or $0.37 per share. Excluding a non-cash goodwill impairment of $164 million in this year’s third quarter results, adjusted operating income was $1.25 billion and adjusted net earnings were $818 million, or $0.44 per share. In the third quarter of 2024, the company reported operating income of $1.35 billion and net earnings of $894 million, or $0.46 per share.

Governor Moore Announces Free Transit for Federal Workers on MARC and Commuter Bus during Government Shutdown
Maryland Governor Wes Moore announced that the Maryland Transit Administration will provide free MARC and Commuter Bus service to federal workers during the ongoing federal government shutdown.
