Weekly Rail Traffic for the Week Ending June 13, 2020
The Association of American Railroads (AAR) today reported U.S. rail traffic for the week ending June 13, 2020. For this week, total U.S. weekly rail traffic was 449,291 carloads and intermodal units, down 14.9 percent compared with the same week last year.

Amtrak Selects Development Team to Partner in Gray 30th Street Station Redevelopment
Amtrak has selected Plenary Infrastructure Philadelphia (PIP), a team with international expertise to form a master development partnership via ground lease for the renovation of William H. Gray III 30th Street Station. The key team members who will design, build, finance, operate and maintain the station include Plenary Americas USA Ltd.

Trolleys Will Not Operate on Green Line D Branch and Between Some Stations on Green Line C Branch for Nine Days beginning June 20
The MBTA is announcing the suspension of Green Line C and D branch trolley service between several stations effective June 20 and until the end of service June 28 as essential infrastructure work is done as part of the MBTA’s $8 billion Building a Better T program. Effective June 20, the second of 2 full 9-day closures of service on the Green Line D branch will occur between Kenmore and Riverside Stations.

MTA Moves Forward with Ultraviolet Pilot for Disinfecting Full Trains
MTA New York City Transit officials today demonstrated how the MTA is piloting the use of Ultraviolet disinfecting technology across entire train sets. The pilot is initially focused on identifying ways to eradicate COVID-19 in rolling stock, including car classes R188, R62, R46, R68, and R160 at Corona, Coney Island, Jamaica and Pelham Maintenance Shops.

VRE Extends Operations and Maintenance Contracts with Keolis
The Virginia Railway Express (VRE) will continue to utilize Keolis Rail Services Virginia, LLC for operating and maintenance services. On the recommendation of the VRE Operations Board, the commuter rail service’s parent commissions last week approved extending one contract and amending another.
