New Buffalo Transportation Center Completed
Governor Andrew M. Cuomo, on November 8, announced that major construction has been completed on the new, state-of the-art transportation hub in downtown Buffalo. The Exchange Street Station, which was constructed on time and on budget, is twice the size of the city’s previous rail station and provides travelers with a convenient and intermodal gateway to Buffalo’s bustling downtown with easy connections to local bus and light rail service

Jaguar Transport Holdings Acquires 5 Shortline Railroads and a Railroad Construction Company from The Western Group
Jaguar Transport Holdings (Jaguar) and The Western Group (TWG) have announced that Jaguar has acquired five short-line railroads and a railroad construction and maintenance company from TWG. Jaguar is partnered with OPSEU Pension Plan Trust Fund (“OPTrust”), which invests and manages one of Canada’s largest pension funds and has significant experience investing in the surface transportation and logistics space.

MBTA Face Covering Enforcement Takes Effect November 6
Today the MBTA announced face covering enforcement efforts effective today, November 6, pursuant to the revised Executive Order issued on November 2. The revised Executive Order applies to any person over the age of 5 who is in a place open to the public, and expressly requires masks or face coverings worn over the nose and mouth when using public transportation.

NJ Transit Adds Weekend Service To Select Stations
NJ TRANSIT is providing rail customers with additional weekend travel options at five stations beginning Sunday, November 8th. Customers at Garwood, Avenel, North Elizabeth, Teterboro and Woodcliff Lake will have additional trains stopping at their stations on weekends as part of NJ TRANSIT’s fall rail schedule adjustments

LIRR Announces Timetable Changes Effective Nov. 9 to Address Fall Leaf Season, Trackwork and Main Line Expansion Project
MTA Long Island Rail Road today announced new timetables will go into effect Nov. 9 as crews make improvements across the system, resulting in some peak and off-peak schedule adjustments. Along with improvements related to track resurfacing and station renovation, crews will continue work on the Main Line Expansion and interlocking improvements. And, to keep the rails safer during leaf falling season, LIRR will reduce train speeds in areas prone to slippery rail/low-adhesion conditions.

Rail Traffic for October and the Week Ending October 31, 2020
The Association of American Railroads (AAR) today reported U.S. rail traffic for the week ending October 31, 2020, as well as volumes for October 2020. .U.S. railroads originated 912,772 carloads in October 2020, down 6.6 percent, or 64,634 carloads, from October 2019.
