CSX Corp. Announces Third Quarter 2021 Financial Results
CSX Corp. announced third quarter 2021 net earnings of $968 million, or $0.43 per share, compared to $736 million, or $0.32 per share in the same period last year. Third quarter 2021 operating ratio was 56.4% compared to 56.9% in the prior year period.

Rail Traffic for the Week Ending October 16, 2021
The Association of American Railroads (AAR) reported U.S. rail traffic for the week ending October 16, 2021. For this week, total U.S. weekly rail traffic was 496,983 carloads and intermodal units, down 4.2 percent compared with the same week last year.

MDOT MTA Project for New State-of the-Art Fare Collection System
The Maryland Department of Transportation Maryland Transit Administration (MDOT MTA) is modernizing the state’s transit system, and is launching a project to overhaul its entire fare collection system. The approval of the $63.6 million project by the Maryland Board of Public Works enables MDOT MTA to begin implementing a next-generation fare system that will enhance both operational efficiency and the rider experience.

NJ Transit Rolls Our Aquatrack For Fall Cleanup
NJ TRANSIT has begun utilizing two AquaTrack machines to clean and remove leaves from the rails throughout the fall season. The AquaTrack equipment is a high-pressure power washing system which removes the oily residue left behind by fallen leaves on the tracks to prevent train delays caused by “slippery rail” conditions.

Norfolk Southern to purchase 100% renewable energy in Altoona and Reading, Pennsylvania
Norfolk Southern Corporation announced that it will purchase 100% renewable energy to power the company’s operations in the Altoona and Reading regions through agreements with Penelec and Met-Ed utilities.
