SEPTA Board Approves Plan To Invest New Federal Infrastructure Funds
SEPTA’s Board today approved an amended Capital Budget for the current fiscal year to add approximately $95 million in funding that has been made available through the recently enacted federal Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA), also referred to as the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law (BIL).

MBTA Green Line Extension Opens
On March 21 Governor Charlie Baker, Lt. Governor Karyn Polito, Massachusetts Transportation Secretary and CEO Jamey Tesler, and MBTA General Manager Steve Poftak joined federal, state, and local elected leaders and community partners to celebrate the opening of the first branch of the MBTA Green Line Extension (GLX) Project. A ribbon-cutting event was held at the brand-new Union Square Station as well as the newly constructed and relocated Lechmere Station.

Metro-North to Improve Hudson Line Service Through Dobbs Ferry
The Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) today announced that crews have completed permanent repairs of a 110-year-old culvert in Dobbs Ferry and the track structure on it that was washed out by heavy rain and high winds from Tropical Storm Ida. The completion of the emergency culvert replacement enables Metro-North to cut Hudson Line travel times through the area by up to five minutes.

Rail Traffic for the Week Ending March 19, 2022
The Association of American Railroads (AAR) reported U.S. rail traffic for the week ending March 19, 2022. For this week, total U.S. weekly rail traffic was 499,362 carloads and intermodal units, down 2.7 percent compared with the same week last year. Total carloads for the week ending March 19 were 232,770 carloads, up 1.1 percent compared with the same week in 2021, while U.S. weekly intermodal volume was 266,592 containers and trailers, down 5.7 percent compared to 2021

MTA Chair and CEO Janno Lieber Appoints Richard Davey as President of New York City Transit
Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) Chair and CEO Janno Lieber today announced the appointment of former Massachusetts Secretary of Transportation Richard Davey as the next president of New York City Transit. As president, Davey will oversee the 54,000-person workforce, as well as operations for New York City subways, buses, paratransit services, and the Staten Island Railway.

Full Service Returns to the NJT Morris & Essex Line and Gladstone Branch
Today NJ Transit resumed normal service on the Morris & Essex Line and the Gladstone Branch. NJ Transit crews have been working around the clock to successfully complete repairs to the extensive storm damage in the Maplewood area .
