Amtrak Opens Full Service Bar at Metropolitan Lounge in Moynihan Train Hall

Amtrak customers can now enjoy bar service at Amtrak’s premium Metropolitan Lounge in the Moynihan Train Hall in New York City. The bar menu offers beer, wine, cocktails, and hot food offerings available for purchase between 11 a.m. and 7 p.m.  Nodding to the more than 400 breweries in New York state, the menu features rotating seasonal selections from local New York breweries, including Five Boroughs Brewing, Brooklyn Brewery, Ithaca Beer Company, Empire Brewing Company and Montauk Brewing Company.

Guests can also enjoy complimentary snacks, pastries, yogurt parfaits, fruit, salads, sandwiches, and La Colombe specialty coffee (i.e., espresso, lattes, americanos, etc.) throughout the day. As the service is elevated, Amtrak is committed to maintaining a safe and healthy dining environment. All prepacked items are served by an attendant behind the service counter. In accordance with New York City’s Emergency Executive Order No. 225, everyone 12 and older is required to show proof they have received at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine to enter the Metropolitan Lounge at Moynihan Train Hall. All guests 12 and older is required to show proof they have received 2 vaccine doses, except for those who received the single dose of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine. Starting on January 28, 2022, children 5 to 11 must also show proof of full vaccination.

The Metropolitan Lounge is open Monday to Friday from 5:00 a.m. to 9:30 p.m., and Saturday and Sunday from 7:00 a.m. to. 9:00 p.m. The lounge is available for Amtrak Guest Rewards® Select Executive and Select Plus members, Acela First Class and private room customers and Single-Day Pass holders, with same-day reservations. Amtrak Business Class passengers can also buy day passes for $50.

The Metropolitan Lounge is staffed by attendants who are available to assist with reservations, ticketing, Red Cap service and local information. The Metropolitan Lounge also has unique finishes, furnishings, décor and features, including a grand entry and reception with a welcome desk and luxurious customer seating, various seating neighborhoods for solo, group or family lounging, luggage storage lockers, integrated power and USB access at most seats, a business center, private restrooms, a nursing room, train information boards, a family area, and an expansive balcony with café-style seating overlooking the rest of the Train Hall.
