The Adirondack Railroad (formerly known as the Adirondack Scenic Railroad) hosted a special event on Saturday, July 9, 2022 to celebrate 30 years of volunteerism. The Adirondack Railroad serves the Adirondack Park on over 100 miles of former New York Central Railroad track between Utica and Tupper Lake, N.Y. The railroad is operated by the not-for-profit Adirondack Railway Preservation Society, with train crews comprised largely of volunteers.

Currently, passenger trains operate between Utica and Thendara, and from Thendara north to Big Moose or Beaver River. Service is expected to be extended eastward to Tupper Lake later this year. The 30 Year celebration utilized the scheduled excursion train from Utica to Thendara, where the festivities were held at the station.
