Railroad Museum For A Day, at the organization’s Boonton, N.J., restoration facility. The event had been cancelled in 2020 and 2021 during the pandemic restrictions. On display to the public this year were 15 URHS and Tri-State Railway Historical Society locomotives, passenger cars, and cabooses. A guest exhibit was Central Railroad of New Jersey liveried GP40PH-2 4109, graciously loaned by NJ Transit for the event.
The Boonton restoration facility is not regularly open to the general public. The once-a-year event allows everyone to view past and present restoration projects. The open house is held in conjunction with the annual Boonton Street Festival. The town provides a bus shuttle, enabling those at the street festival easy access to the railroad facility.

This year’s Railroad Museum For A Day kicked off the evening before with a night photography session. A group of 45 railfans purchased tickets for this venue, with Railfan & Railroad editor Steve Barry, assisted by Mike Burkhart and John Regan, providing the electronic flash lighting.
