Strasburg Railroad 475 Damaged

On Wednesday, November 2 Strasburg Railroad steam locomotive 475 was running around its passenger train at Leaman Place Junction when it was involved in an incident. The 475 entered a stub siding, striking an excavator. A maintenance of way crew member failed to realign the track switch and secure it in a normal position. When running the locomotive around the passenger train on the Main Track, the locomotive’s crew did not notice the misaligned switch, The train entered the stub track at the posted 1o mile per hour speed limit, and was not speeding. The locomotive received minor damage. Currently the smoke box door and minor nose damage is being repaired. The Strasburg Railroad expects the 475 to return to service this Monday or Tuesday,
