Steam in the Valley To Run As Scheduled; Departures out of Rockside Station

Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad (CVSR) is partnering with Fort Wayne Railroad Historical Society to host “Steam in the Valley” and bring historic steam locomotive no. 765 for the first time in May on the 13-15 and 20-22 with some changes to departure locations this year. This year, the railroad will run departures for this annual tradition out of the Rockside Station located in Independence.

Recently, the railroad announced with Cuyahoga Valley National Park that the railroad would continue to operate with a modified schedule due to significant erosion along part of the Cuyahoga River near the railroad tracks to avoid the area until the repairs are complete. “Steam in the Valley is an annual tradition at the railroad and we’re excited to offer it the first time in May,” said Joe Mazur, CVSR President and CEO. “We’re happy we can still bring this annual tradition to
the area for everyone to enjoy.”

In prior years, the railroad offered departures from the Akron Northside Station and Rockside Station. This year excursions will run as scheduled on the same days and times that were previously announced. However, the Akron Northside Station departures will now change to the Rockside Station. Customers who purchased tickets for the Steam in the Valley with a departure from the Akron Northside Station will receive communication from CVSR customer service via email. Customers who want a refund should contact customer service by Tuesday, March 29 at 5 p.m. Those who do not reach out before that time will automatically have their tickets moved to Rockside Station.

In addition to Steam in the Valley, the railroad will continue to move forward with a modified schedule
for June and July with tickets for National Park Flyer and the Cleveland Dinner & Event Train going on
sale to CVSR members on Friday, April 1 at 9 a.m. and on sale to the public on Tuesday, April 5 at 9 a.m.
