RIDC Sells 13-Acres in Duquesne to Union Railroad Company

Regional Industrial Development Corporation of Southwestern Pennsylvania (RIDC) has sold a 13-acre parcel in RIDC’s City Center of Duquesne to Union Railroad Company, LLC.  Union Railroad will develop the land as a rail-to-truck and truck-to-rail transloading facility to expand its offerings to rail-served industries. The purchase price was $400,000.

The parcel will expand Union Railroad’s existing footprint in Duquesne transloading, material laydown, categorizing, and preparation of a variety of commodities for the next leg in their journey.  Long-haul shipments of goods often involve multiple shipping companies, multiple modes of transit, or both.

With the Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission building an extension to the Mon/Fayette Expressway, this site will be a focal point for manufacturers needing multimodal options for the movement of goods.

“This land is a great addition to the Union Railroad footprint, creating a 20-acre transload site that will provide optionality for existing and new rail customers,” said J.W. Burwinkel, Union Railroad’s Senior Vice President and Chief Commercial Officer.
