Rapidly Escalating Riots Effect Railroad Operations

Rapidly escalating riots and looting, stemming from protests over the death of George Floyd, are having an effect on railroad operations in many urban areas throughout the country. In Philadelphia, Pa., SEPTA has decided to immediately shutdown all bus, trolley, subway, and commuter rail service. Without transit, those involved in the riots will not be mobile. In addition, SEPTA is attempting to keep both transit workers and train crews safe from the trouble makers. SEPTA is expected to resume service on Monday morning.  Tonight Norfolk Southern shutdown two busy intermodal terminals in Chicago, the 47th Street and 63rd Street terminals. Both are expected to reopen on Monday morning.  day, June 1st
