Philadelphia’s Center City Trolley Tunnel Reopens Today

SEPTA’s Philadelphia Center City Trolley Tunnel reopened today.  To allow time for additional inspections and maintenance, the tunnel will be closed and all trolleys will run on diversion each night between 10 pm and 5 am. In order to complete the necessary replacement of overhead catenary systems, SEPTA is also planning to close the T Trolley tunnel for the following periods in the coming weeks:

  • 10 pm on Jan. 23, 2026 to 5 am on Jan. 26, 2026
  • 10 pm on Jan. 30, 2026 to 5 am on Feb. 2, 2026
  • 5 am on Feb. 15, 2026 to 10 pm on Feb. 22, 2026

The T Shuttle bus currently operating between 40th-Market and 15th & Market Streets will be discontinued starting Monday morning, but will run during the three outage periods listed above. Riders should continue to use the T Bus Schedules for bus times.
