Full Service Returns to the NJT Morris & Essex Line and Gladstone Branch

Today NJ Transit resumed normal service on the Morris & Essex Line and the Gladstone Branch. NJ Transit  crews have been working around the clock to successfully complete  repairs to the extensive storm damage in the Maplewood area .   On Saturday, March 19 and Sunday, March 20, the M&E and Gladstone Branch will operate regular weekend service.  The Montclair-Boonton Line will also resume regular weekday service tomorrow after providing enhanced service to accommodate M&E passengers.  Following the March 7 destruction of a catenary pole from a storm damaged tree NJ Transit had suspended service on most of the Morris & Essex Line and the Gladstone Branch, with certain diesel trains detouring via the Montclair-Boonton Line. Limited South Orange to New York Penn Station service was offered later that week. Complicating the matter of repair to the line was a tree fall across the tracks near the Mountain Station on March 13.
