Empire Service Schedule Changes Due to East River Tunnel Project

To accommodate ongoing East River Tunnel rehabilitation work near Penn Station New York, Amtrak Empire Service schedules will change effective today (April 28). These changes are as follows:

Trains 235 and 238 will be suspended during construction.
10 daily Southbound trains between Albany and New York will remain available.
10 daily Northbound trains between New York and Albany will remain available.
Adirondack and Maple Leaf trains will combine into one train between New York City and Albany with an extended layover in Albany.
Empire Service, Adirondack and Maple Leaf schedule times may adjust up to 30 minutes earlier or later.

AAR Reports Weekly Rail Traffic for the Week Ending September 20, 2025

The Association of American Railroads (AAR) today reported U.S. rail traffic for the week ending September 20, 2025. For this week, total U.S. weekly rail traffic was 510,677 carloads and intermodal units, down 2.2 percent compared with the same week last year.
