Genesee Valley Transportation and “the” Delaware-Lackawanna Railroad has repainted historic former D&H RS-3, #4068 into the Delaware & Hudson lightning stripe scheme at their Von Storch shop in Scranton Pennsylvania. The locomotive had been previously painted in the early D&H freight scheme and operated on “the” Delaware-Lackawanna. It was repainted to reflect and commemorate the rich railroad history of northeast Pennsylvania and the influence “the” Delaware & Hudson railroad had on the industrial development of the region. The classic blue and grey is a testament to former D&H Penn Division, a portion of which is now operated by the “the” Delaware-Lackawanna and owned by the Pennsylvania Northeast Regional Rail Authority (PNRRA).
In additional news, restoration of PA-1, DL #190 has been completed, and inaugural trips are scheduled for July 11th and 12th. Attendance on these trips will be by invitation only, and will be the first use of the 190 (Former D&H 18) since being wrecked in Mexico and repatriated through the efforts of Doyle McCormack. Mr. McCormack will be on hand for this historic occasion and first run over the railroad.
Stay tuned for future public excursions planned with the PA #190 later this summer.
