Genesee Valley Transportation and the Delaware-Lackawanna Railroad debuted repainted historic former D&H RS-3 4068 into the Delaware & Hudson “Lightning Stripe” scheme at DL’s Von Storch shop in Scranton, Pa., on Monday morning, June 23, 2025. The RS-3 had previously been painted in the early D&H black-and-yellow freight scheme while it operated on the Delaware-Lackawanna. It was repainted into D&H “Lightning Stripe” livery to reflect and commemorate the rich railroad history of northeast Pennsylvania and the influence the Delaware & Hudson Railroad had on the industrial development of the region.
The classic blue-and-grey is a tribute to the former D&H Penn Division, a portion of which is now operated by the Delaware-Lackawanna between Scranton and Carbondale, and owned by the Pennsylvania Northeast Regional Rail Authority (PNRRA).

Restoration of PA-1, DL 190 has been completed, and inaugural trips were operated July 11 and 12. Attendance on those trips was by invitation only; this was the first use of the 190 (former D&H 18) since being wrecked in Mexico and repatriated and reconstructed through the effort of Doyle McCormack. Mr. McCormack was on hand for the PA’s historic first run over the railroad. Future public excursions are planned with PA 190 and RS3 4068 later this summer.
