$317.1 Million Secured to Replace 200 Rail Cars on SEPTA’s Market-Frankford Line

This past Friday (Feb. 16) , U.S. Senators Bob Casey (D-PA) and John Fetterman (D-PA), U.S. Representatives Brendan Boyle (D-PA-2), Dwight Evans (D-PA-3), and Mary Gay Scanlon (D-PA-5), and Philadelphia Mayor Cherelle L. Parker announced that SEPTA is receiving $317,160,000 in infrastructure funding to purchase approximately 200 new rail cars on the Market-Frankford Line, SEPTA’s most heavily-used commuter rail line.

Norfolk Southern, BLET, SMART-TD, and FRA Sign Landmark C3RS Safety Agreement

Norfolk Southern Corporation, the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers and Trainmen (BLET), and the International Association of Sheet Metal, Air, Rail and Transportation Workers – Transportation Division (SMART-TD), along with the Federal Railroad Administration (FRA), signed an agreement Thursday to participate in the FRA’s Confidential Close Call Reporting System (C3RS).

Washington Metro Announces Three-Year Capital Construction Plans

Washington Metro has announced plans for major capital construction over the next three years to modernize the Metrorail system, improve safety and reliability, and maintain a state of good repair. Planned closures are scheduled between summer 2024 and summer 2026, with additional construction planned over the winter holidays.
