MBTA Service during Public Demonstrations
Sunday evening, May 31, public safety and law enforcement personnel limited access to certain sections of the subway system in the Government Center, Boston Common, Tufts Medical Center, and Copley Square areas and diverted area bus routes due to incidents involving looting and fires.

SEPTA has suspended subway, bus and trolley service in Center City beginning at noon on June 1, 2020. These restrictions were put into place in coordination with the City of Philadelphia, and will remain in place until further notice.

U.S. Department of Transportation Announces $1.25 Million in Funding Available for Real-Time Transit Infrastructure and Rolling Stock Condition Assessment Demonstration Program
The U.S. Department of Transportation’s Federal Transit Administration (FTA) announced the availability of $1.25 million in funding to demonstrate and evaluate innovative technologies and designs to improve the state of good repair for transit agencies. The competitive grant funds are provided through the Public Transportation Innovation Program.

Weekly Rail Traffic for the Week Ending May 23, 2020
The Association of American Railroads (AAR) today reported U.S. rail traffic for the week ending May 23, 2020. For this week, total U.S. weekly rail traffic was 428,715 carloads and intermodal units, down 19.2 percent compared with the same week last year. Total carloads for the week ending May 23 were 190,639 carloads, down 27.5 percent compared with the same week in 2019, while U.S. weekly intermodal volume was 238,076 containers and trailers, down 11.2 percent compared to 2019
