Grand Central Terminal Tours Resume
MTA Metro-North Railroad and City Experiences announced global tours and experiences provider, Walks, as the new operator of the Official Grand Central Terminal Tour. The terminal tours return for the first time since taking a hiatus during the pandemic. The VIP tours provide guests with official tour of the historic landmark, offering a unique perspective of one of the most recognizable train terminals in the world.

Rail Traffic for the Week Ending November 26, 2022
The Association of American Railroads (AAR) today reported U.S. rail traffic for the week ending November 26, 2022. For this week, total U.S. weekly rail traffic was 413,305 carloads and intermodal units, down 4.1 percent compared with the same week last year.

Amtrak’s Winter Park Express Returns
Amtrak’s Amtrak Winter Park Express returns this year, traveling between Denver and the base of the slopes at Winter Park Resort—voted one of North America’s best ski resorts and Colorado’s top adventure town. The new season of the “ski train” will be offered each Friday, Saturday, and Sunday from the weekend of Jan.13-15 through the weekend of March 24-26, a total of 33 roundtrips. USDOT, Biden Administration Deliver $4.3 Billion in Funding to Amtrak in Year One of Bipartisan Infrastructure Law
The U.S. Department of Transportation (USDOT) granted an unprecedented $4.3 billion in funding to Amtrak this fall to modernize the intercity passenger rail network, most immediately funding improvements to Amtrak-served stations to upgrade fleets and meet Americans with Disability Act (ADA) standards. Over the next five years, President Biden’s Bipartisan Infrastructure Law will invest a total of $22 billion in Amtrak, improving and expanding intercity passenger rail services nationwide and addressing long-delayed repairs and maintenance.

VIA Rail will Modernize Two Maintenance Centers
VIA Rail Canada (VIA Rail) has announced that it has awarded two contracts to two Canadian companies for the modernization of its maintenance centres in Toronto and Montréal. An important pillar of the Corridor Fleet Replacement Program, these upgrades will allow these centres to become the home base for the maintenance of VIA Rail’s 32 new trains, while continuing to maintain and service our existing fleet.

SEPTA Awarded Federal Grant to Study Transit Oriented Development in Delaware County
SEPTA has been awarded a $300,000 federal grant to study the conditions and opportunities created along the corridor formed by the ends-of-line for its Route 11 and 13 trolley services in Darby and Yeadon boroughs in Delaware County. The grant is one of 19 projects awarded funding by the Federal Transit Administration (FTA) through the Pilot Program for Transit-Oriented Development (TOD) Planning.

After a 2-year hiatus, MTA New York City Transit continues its annual tradition of Holiday Nostalgia Rides on the New York Transit Museum’s vintage fleet. In honor of the exhibit Reign of the Redbirds, the Holiday Nostalgia Train will feature the Train of Many Colors and travel along a new route this year!

MBTA Ski Train Returns to the Fitchburg Line
The MBTA and Keolis Commuter Services (Keolis), the agency’s operating partner for Commuter Rail, announced an updated schedule for the Fitchburg Line beginning on Monday, December 12, 2022. The updated schedule reflects the addition of the seasonal “ski train,” a specially equipped train that connects passengers to the Wachusett Mountain Ski Area.

Amtrak Fiscal Year 2022:
