Fall 2020 provided plenty of color and action for railfans flocking to the Alco Empire in northeast Pennsylvania. The Delaware-Lackawanna Railroad was operating seven days a week, with frequent grain trains to the Ardent Mills flour mill at Pocono Summit, and near-daily runs of frac sand trains to the Linde sand terminal in Carbondale, Pa. From urban views in downtown Scranton to remote locations in the Roaring Brook Gorge to lakeside running on the Pocono Plateau, there was something for every photographer’s taste.
