Testing and repair of the overhead wire infrastructure in the Philadelphia Center City trolley tunnel is ongoing, and progress continues, but some problem areas remain that need to be resolved before the tunnel can safely reopen. SEPTA expects the tunnel to remain closed for another week, at least until Sunday, December 14.
All T trolleys will remain on diversion to 40th and Market streets for connection to the L to and from Center City.
The typical alternate service recommendation for [T] riders during a tunnel closure is to transfer between the [T] lines and the [L] at 40th-Market for travel to and from Center City. However, other options may be faster and/or less crowded, depending on your origin and destination. These include:
- Using the 46, 63, 52, or 64 bus to connect to the [L]
- Using the 21, 42, or 12 bus to travel to and from Center City
- Using Indego, Philadelphia’s bike share system, to connect to a SEPTA stop or station that may be too far to walk. Indego has stations near many [L] and [T] stations, and now offers single-trip ride options.
