Due to safety concerns stemming from structure issues of a parking garage located at West 51 Street in the Hell’s Kitchen section of New York City, Amtrak has suspended all Empire Line service between New York’s Penn Station and Croton-Harmon, N.Y. The parking garage sits directly on top of the Empire Line tracks. Holes in the building’s concrete have warranted the suspension of train service below. The suspension of service started on Sunday. Passengers can travel on Metro-North trains from Grand Central Terminal to Croton-Harmon, where they can transfer to Amtrak Empire Line trains. The disruption in service is expected to last for the next few days, while crews fix the parking garage.
