CSX DERAILMENT RESULTS IN AMTRAK ELECTRIC OUTAGE
Due to a CSX freight train derailment at Oak Point Yard in the Bronx, N.Y., all Amtrak service has been suspended between New York and New Haven. Four freight cars had derailed and one hit a catenary pole, causing an electrical outage.

A Norfolk Southern train derailed near Tennille, Georgia. Multiple washouts have been reported near the derailment site, which is expected to remain out of service for approximately 48 hours.

The Association of American Railroads (AAR) today reported U.S. rail traffic for the week ending September 12, 2020. For this week, total U.S. weekly rail traffic was 474,785 carloads and intermodal units, down 9.9 percent compared with the same week last year. Total carloads for the week ending September 12 were 214,142 carloads, down 15.2 percent compared with the same week in 2019, while U.S. weekly intermodal volume was 260,643 containers and trailers, down 5 percent compared to 2019
