Amtrak Issues Special Inauguration Service Alert

Due to the Presidential Inauguration, special pedestrian and vehicle traffic patterns around Washington Union Station are in place and will require extra time to get to the station. Additionally, once arriving to the station, there is no access to taxi or ride share services and Metro is operating adjusted service, including no service at Union Station. The Metro station at NOMA/Gallaudet, a short walk from Union Station, will remain open. Please follow the instructions of station personnel and law enforcement for exiting and entering the station.

Amtrak continues to operate service as scheduled, with the following exceptions on Tuesday and Wednesday, Jan. 19 and 20 only:

There will be no Northeast Regional service south of Washington, including all Virginia stations. Amtrak Auto Train service is unaffected.
The Carolinian will only operate between Raleigh and Charlotte.

Ontario Expanding GO Train Service Across the Greater Toronto Area

The Ontario government is moving ahead with the largest GO train service expansion in more than a decade, adding more than 300 trips per week on the Milton, Lakeshore West, Lakeshore East, Kitchener and Stouffville lines. The 15 per cent increase in weekly trips will give commuters more choice to get where they need to go faster.

Amtrak Continues Advancing Zero Emissions Technology

Amtrak has issued a Request for Information (RFI) to seek options to help transform the company’s rail fleet with zero-emissions technology. This important step marks progress towards the company’s long-range goal of eliminating emissions used to power Amtrak’s trains, which already provide one of the most sustainable modes of travel for many trips.
